Scooter Board & Scooter Board UV Fabrication Tips

Cutting
Use a triple chip carbide tipped blade. The board must be held firm against the saw table to prevent chipping. Panel saws withhold downs work well.
Routing
Use a double fluted straight carbide tipped bit. Upward or downward spiral is not needed.
Drilling Holes
Use a solid backer underneath SB to prevent a blowout from the drill bit.
Swinging Signs
Hanging with an S hook use grommets in the holes.
Hand Lettering
Use 1 Shot lettering enamel for scooter board (Clean Scooter Board with 70% ethyl alcohol first).
Mix 1 Shot with one of the following:
- Turpentine
- Penetrol & Turpentine
- 6001 reducer
- One Shot Hardener
*Scooter Board UV may react adversely to any harsh chemicals. Testing is necessary on the finish.
Gluing
Loctite’s MS 9360 (800-562-8483) offers excellent adhesion. Other Loctite products should be tested.
Spray Painting
Matthews Paints offers excellent adhesion direct on SB.
SBUV requires testing.
Edge coating for exterior applications
Recommended for 1/8”, 3/16” and ¼” in conditions having extreme humidity, salt air or chemical pollution. The edges must be protected on 1/2” Scooter Board. Some customers are using a Zinsser Bullseye 123 Primer water or oil base with good success. This is a quick drying product that can be top coated for extreme moisture resistance with exterior enamel.
Scooter Board UV is recommended for all UV printers.
Recommended Nazdar screening inks : 1800, 4000, 9600, S2 and 9700. Emulsions include IMS902.
Scooter Board is not recommended for Digital Printing.
Recommended Nazdar Screening inks: 59000, 9600, and 9700 with a 10% NB-80 catalyst. Also 1700 with a 5% NB-80 catalyst.
